Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) had awarded Alstom the contract to design, manufacture, supply, test and commission 234 cars for Metro 4 (Wadala-Kasarvadavli-Gaikmukh) and Metro 4A (Kasarvadavli-Gaimukh) for Rs 1,854 crore. MUMBAI: Failure to finalize the car depot for another crucial Metro corridor and the delay in the work have turned out to be an embarrassment for the state government as the shortlisted bidder has declined to manufacture rakes for the proposed Line 4 which will connect the island city to Thane via the eastern suburbs.
